I’m not bothered that it may be AlexanderHamilton who’s removed from the dollar and not Andrew Jackson, because being bothered affirms the assumption that only one white old man could be removed. No, I imagine a future that has Harriet Tubman as the face of $10 bill, Squanto as the face of the $1 bill, Frederik Douglas be $5, Sally Hemings be $2, Helen Keller as $100, and Chief John Ross as $20… America is a diverse country grown out of the legacies of slavery, racial/capitalist exclusion, and genocidal theft of land originally belonging to Native Americans; it’d be quite a thing if its currency could reflect that historical reality.
